THE STORY BEHIND THE PAINTING
THE JOURNEY
Mountains reveal a different character after daylight disappears. Edges soften, color retreats and the vast structure of the land becomes quieter but more powerful.
The memory behind this painting is not of a single viewpoint. It is the accumulated feeling of cold air, distance and the pale light that makes familiar forms appear newly mysterious.
IN THE STUDIO
The painting was built through restrained color and careful value relationships. Deep blues and muted violets establish the night before lighter passages define the mountain.
Texture is used sparingly so that the illuminated areas feel discovered rather than announced.

THE SURFACE
At distance, the marks resolve into landscape. Up close, the work returns to paint—edges, transparent passages, knife marks and areas where the surface remains deliberately active.
COLLECTOR'S NOTE
Moonlit Mountain is part of the nocturne series, in which atmosphere and suggestion take precedence over descriptive detail.
