THE STORY BEHIND THE PAINTING
THE JOURNEY
This Icelandic landscape is remembered through its open distance, cool mountain forms and a sky that shifts between restraint and warmth. The painting holds onto atmosphere rather than topographical detail.
IN THE STUDIO
Layered color and broken marks were used to keep the distant forms soft while the foreground remains more tactile and immediate.

THE SURFACE
At distance, the marks resolve into landscape. Up close, the work returns to paint—edges, transparent passages, knife marks and areas where the surface remains deliberately active.
