THE JOURNEY
The Lowlands are defined by breadth, weather and an understated rhythm of fields, water and distant sky.
Their beauty is not immediate spectacle. It emerges slowly through atmosphere, tonal change and the quiet geometry of the land.
IN THE STUDIO
The composition was organized through horizontal movement and a restrained range of color.
Thin atmospheric layers created distance, while more physical marks in the foreground prevented the scene from becoming entirely ethereal.
THE SURFACE
Paint seen at close range.
At distance, the marks resolve into landscape. Up close, the work returns to paint—edges, transparent passages, knife marks and areas where the surface remains deliberately active.
